For those of you who are new to snmp, tls is an application used for controlling access to network services by allowing applications to negotiate access to the network in order to make network calls. It can also be used to secure data and other network information by encrypting these same data.

This isn’t really all that difficult, and most web servers are set up with SSL already in place, however, if you are running your own web server, you may find that you don’t have SSL.

This is something to check, but most commonly, most people will use SSL for all traffic except for your own internal connections. If you are running your own web server however, it is probably best to use SSL for all that it does. Otherwise you will be vulnerable to man in the middle attacks.

Its a really big deal when you have no SSL, and your web server gets attacked, and you dont have a way to fix it. Snmp will only send requests to ports that your web server is configured to listen on. If your web server doesnt have SSL, then snmp will only send requests to ports that snmp is configured to receive. The only way to fix this is to check your web server’s configuration.
