You can spend your time browsing listings or searching on Craigslist, but you have to be willing to take the time to look at the actual space the potential landlord has in mind when they offer you the lease. Most of the time you’ll find a great place to start your search.

If you can’t afford the rent outright, don’t hesitate to ask the landlord to sign a lease.
