The easy way to duplicate layers in Photoshop is to use the command shortcut double-clicking the layer and choosing Remove. The same trick can be used to duplicate layers in other programs.
This is exactly the thing we want to do to a layer in Photoshop. As easy as it is, you can always tell what is and isn’t a duplicate layer in Photoshop because it will tell you by the color banding and other visual clues. Also, it’s always good to have a reference to make sure you didn’t accidentally delete something.
I recently told one of my colleagues about this because I thought it was a great way to duplicate layers in Photoshop. He seemed to like it so I tried it. I was surprised when I couldn’t find the duplicate layer shortcut in the shortcut menu. I’m not sure if I just miss it or if there is something else in the shortcut menu. Either way, it’s something I’d definitely need to know so I can duplicate layers in Photoshop.
I have found that using the shortcut does make duplicate layers a little easier to use, but its not a complete solution. If you want to delete or duplicate layers in Photoshop, you’re going to have to do a bit more digging, since it relies on the shortcut in Photoshop.
Well, as it turns out, a lot of us use Photoshop. The new shortcut is so simple that you can use it in any Photoshop file. In fact, I used it to duplicate layers in a very large Photoshop file. I was using it to duplicate layers in the middle of a large file, and it worked great. Thats why I was so quick to try it out.

A very common mistake. You create a layer and give it a name. But what you really want to do is give it a very different name. This is because the layer name is the only thing that is unique about a single layer. But when you use the duplicate layer shortcut, it merges them as if they were the same layer. You can do this by using the shortcut – Duplicate Layer, and name the layer whatever you like.
If you use the duplicate layer shortcut, you can drag the layer icon around the layer stack. This will merge all the layers in the stack into the original layer. You can even edit the layer name.
It is easy to accidentally copy layers when you have the duplicate layer shortcut, and this can affect a lot of your layers. If you do accidentally copy layers, you can use the Duplicate Layer filter to turn them back into the original layer.
